Luxury Handles

Handle definition and design:

A handle is a handle of a part or a complement that allows it to be grasped by hand to operate through its ergonomics, according to its type. The type determines its function and classifies it in its type by specifying its use.

There are two types, pull handles and twist handles.

A) Pull handles:
It is a type of grip that supports a pulling action. We can perform this pull with one or both hands by pulling on the object the handle is attached to.

B) Rotation handles:
It is a type of handle that supports a rotation action. The rotation is usually done with the left or right hand to open or close the object to which the handle is attached.

It's design includes the following parameters:

- The type of handle: Pull handle, door handle, door knob handle, small knob for furniture, e.t.c.
- The use it has according to the specifications.
- Its ergonomics which examines its functional use.
- Its morphology which examines the shape of the handle.
- The material that will be selected (raw material) for its production.
- The finish it will have for its aesthetic approach.
- The method of construction that defines the initial cost.
- The functional components that make it up that its examines its mechanical parts.

A handle base of its design works utilitarian in two ways, either the traditional or the intuitive if its form has a particular approach.

The necessary conditions for its proper operation are:

- The appropriate force to support it or transmit it to the work required to operate the handle.

- The appropriate and correct length for the grip of the handle to allow the gripping hand or hands to reliably use this force.

- A handle that is designed in such a way as to allow the user to perform its function with stability in order to exert this force as needed.

- Sufficient circumference so that the force needed is properly and safely distributed to the user's hand.

- Correct and functional processing of the surface of the handle in order to achieve a proper grip in relation to the friction produced during use.

Our approach to designing a handle:

Our approach is different and unconventional. We examine and analyze existing assumptions and try to partially differentiate ourselves from them. We take into account the pre-defined parameters of usability and functionality defined by the design standards.

We base and move according to our own design philosophy which concerns:

- Morphology based on sculptural, special, unique lines that are aesthetically reminiscent of a small work of art.

- Correct combination of morphology, ergonomics and function.

- Alternative design which is most of the time our main direction and pursuit:

- You give the possibility based on the position where you will place it (vertical, horizontal, upside down, left, right) to define its aesthetic entity. In one use of a handle you have different and multiple design proposals.

- Depending on the position you choose, the ergonomics and its use (grasping the handle) work correctly and firmly.

A small reference to how it all started:

In 2018, a first series of small doorknobs was designed and in 2019, the first design of a handle for the offices of a company for their central entrance was carried out.
In 2020, a complete collection of interior door knobs and a large door handle for the main entrance were designed and produced (in bronze alloys) for a luxury home in the Center of Athens (Kolonaki).

In 2022, the "Luxury handles" project was planned.

In 2022, in collaboration with the designer Michael Dimou (Michael Dimou design studio), a complete collection of handles was designed in a catalog of 234 pages. The collection includes Pull handles, Door handles, Door knobs and small knobs for furniture design.

The Logic of the project:

A dynamic collaboration between two creative personalities that have united two different perspectives in order to accomplish a mission of multidimensional design beyond materialism.
Focusing on a combination of art, ergonomic design and sculptural forms with the "sense of touch".

We made it happen.

Through the reflection of the design objects that when you try to perceive their functionality, the very touch guides you to understand how to use it. Aiming at creating luxury aspects and desirable objects which offer alternative design to most of our items in order to provide multiple aesthetic solutions.
